Mello hitsJun 18, 2010 The title of the CD says it all. Great music. I was a rocker in my younger days (still am somewhat) but I sure enjoy Hall & Oats.
the masters of blue-eyed soulMay 04, 2010 This is a great group. If you're a huge fan, you're probably better off with the box set they just did. For more people though, this is a good one. It's definitely a good place to start, if you don't have any of the other records they've done. Remastered versions of all their top hits, from the R&B stuff, to the ballads, to the radio favorites. The is the "very best" but, in my opinion, missed a lot of the great album tracks that were never hits. If you like the stuff here, definitely give some of their other records a shot. H2O, Voices, and the really old stuff like Abandoned Lunchenette have some amazing songs and will make you appreciate this one even more.
old schoolApr 27, 2010 I have always liked Hall & Oats!! Very well put together cd.
I would recomment this product!!
Great CD but skipsFeb 10, 2010 This was supposed to be a new cd, but it skips in a couple of places the first time I played it.

2 stars for lousy sound qualityFeb 03, 2010 I've seen this mentioned only in scattered reviews so I will bring it up again:
This collection of greatest hits has a very tinny, downloaded mp3 kinda sound. I saw one reviewer describe the fact that it sounds like entire frequency ranges may be missing from the mastering. I agree, it sounds terrible, like something went wrong with the remastering process.
This band deserves a real remaster job with some fullness and without the tinny digitalized sound quality. No wonder we're getting so many great songs for so little. I read that Essential H & O is just Ultimate H & O repackaged and Ultimate was plagued with the same poor 'remastering'. These three releases are all probably sourced from the same hack remaster job.
I'm surprised this isn't mentioned in more reviews. I guess I will stick with my vinyl until something better comes along.....
