PerfectJul 05, 2010 Tired of the same old kid's songs that have no real imagination and a heavy hand? This is the antidote. Fun, creative visuals, great lyrics, engaging music. My 4 year old loves the humor and learning about letters and words. He now can identify conifer trees and knows that conifer starts with the letter C! And "D is for Drums!" My husband and I can also appreciate the humor and genuine musical talent. We get the songs stuck in our heads constantly, and only sometimes do we resent it!
The Entire Family Loves TMBGJun 03, 2010 I've always thought They Might Be Giants were a talented band since 1982, and they've created quality music for a variety of shows/movies (ex: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Oblongs and Malcolm in the Middle, just to name a few). Since they've been working in the children's music genre, they've been making music that several generations can enjoy together.
The whole family loved the albums Here Come The 123s [CD/DVD] and Here Comes Science, but Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo] didn't impress us as much.
In my opinion -- as an adult and parent-- this album wasn't nearly as educational as the other two, the videos were of a lesser quality than the ones from the other two albums, and the tracks didn't have as much musical variety. However, if I had bought this before the other two albums that I mentioned, I'm sure I would have thought it was fabulous. Each album seems to be better than the last, in any case, and that's not a bad thing at all.
If you're looking for another alternative rock band for kids, check out Juice Box Heroes or For Those About to Hop by Imagination Movers -- another award-winning band that has been made popular by Disney.
Highly RecommendedMay 18, 2010 I love TMBG and was so excited to see that they had kids stuff. We have been playing this one and Here Comes Science for my 15 month old for several months. She is absolutely entranced with them. I would recommend getting the DVD's. The videos are cute and hold my daughters attention. The best thing about this, is that these aren't as are no where near as irritating to me as most kid's music. :o)

Alphabet Presented ImproperlyMay 13, 2010 The alphabet is presented in a very "Sesame Street" kind of way, with short clips that focus on one or a few letters at a time. But this video is worse than Sesame Street. There is very little connection between the letters and the cartoons or the music. It's all just kind of senseless, and not in a fun, silly way.
Worse, the letters are not presented well. The vowels are given out of order: "A-I-Y-E-O-U" or something like that. Sometimes the letters are read (sung) from right-to-left instead of left-to-right. In one clip, the letters are drawn on the screen, but they are not drawn as they would be written: the O is drawn in a clockwise direction and the S is drawn from bottom to top.
This is not a good educational video.
I was bored by the music, but thought my daughter might like it. I figured that it wouldn't harm her to watch it occasionally if she liked it. However, after about 10 minutes, she said she was tired of it and wanted to watch something else. I was relieved. We won't watch it again.
Yay!May 09, 2010 Very fast delivery, no problems at all! Makes a perfect gift for a certain 2 y/o's birthday :)
