...Jul 13, 2010 I've listened to this album at least once a week for the past year and a half. I'm normally one to get bored pretty easily so this is quite a feat. It's organic, shiver-inducing music. If you like things that are beautiful & pensive this will definitely be for you. Everyone I've introduced Fleet Foxes to thus far has loved them and I find negative reviews pretty puzzling. I guess if you're more into, say, Slip Knot than maybe don't bother. You can't please everyone all the time.
Great AlbumJul 03, 2010 This is one of the most simple, honest and also briliant album that i've seen in a long time. Amazing vocals and melody. Powerfull and easy to go. Perfect to a road trip. Fleet Foxes [Vinyl]

Bait-and-switchMay 19, 2010 VERY disappointed in this one. After I saw the band perform on SNL, I was intrigued and thought this was the breath of fresh air I was looking for - not true. This album is HIGHLY derivative of any folk-rock band from the late 60s/70s; Crosby, Stills & Nash, Cat Stevens, America - take your pick. The first few minutes of the album were gripping, until I realized that every song sounded exactly alike: canned vocals, overblown harmonies, drippy lyrics and half-baked melodies. Even the cover is trying too hard to look retro-folksy; you can't push all these throwbacks too much or you just become a gimmick, and that's exactly what they've done here.
I have to admit that I haven't completely written off the band as of yet. They're working on a new album that should be released later this year and it supposedly is less poppy and more jam-like. This might better suit the band and could yield a good album, but there certainly isn't one to be found here.
Fantastic Album, Wonderful PackageMar 31, 2010 I was surprised to receive the Sun Giant E.P. in addition to the self titled LP all in one package. Beautiful cover art. Download code for both records. And well, the music itself is really great!
A review for the Vinyl releaseMar 03, 2010 If you're considering purchasing this on vinyl chances are you are already aware of how amazing this album is so I wont go into that. I just want to note something that I didn't realize until after I opened my copy of the album. The Sun Giant EP is included in this purchase!! So not only do you receive Fleet Foxes incredible self-titled debut, but you receive a complementary 2nd vinyl of their excellent 1st EP. This is a great purchase. Enjoy!
